2013 Trek Neko SL WSD (Gary Fisher Collection) - Women's

Trek's go-anywhere Neko SL is road-bike fast, trail-bike capable and fun everywhere. The Neko SL sports a spry aluminum frame modeled after 29-inch mountain bikes with 700c Bontrager wheels and multi-surface tires for a ride that is efficient on pavement and confident on trail. Up front, you have a 63mm-travel fork with an on-the-fly suspension lockout for when you switch terrains. The components come from the mountain biking world, with 27-speeds and slick Shimano shifting. You even have Tektro disc brakes, so if you're commuting in the rain, or riding through muddy trails, you've got the confidence of all-conditions stopping power. Go everywhere and ride it all aboard your Neko.

Comments:

Product is of average/normal quality. Has not broken once and has been in used during spring, summer, and fall seasons since August 2013. Comfortable ride and easy to handle on both asphalt and gravel. First bike I owned that was new (thus granted, I'm biased to like it), but next time I'd look for something with slightly higher handle bars so that I can sit up straighter for riding. I hadn't taken that into consideration during the purchase; however, that is just a personal preference. That's not a huge con as the handlebar position does allow for more speed/exercise type riding, which I enjoy anyway. Do recommend.

    Comments:

I came into the bike shop having not owned a bike since I was little. I had no idea what kind of bike would suit me best. I go to UNCC, so, I was looking for a bike that would handle all the different areas around campus. Also the 2nd thing I wanted from a bike was that I could take it on the roads near my house. The Neko SL was an amazing choice for me. The bike is speedy enough on the roads with traffic. Also, it handles everywhere on campus quite well. The suspension system is really cool. I open it when the ride is bumpy and close it on flat roads or when going up steep hills. It's made as a "woman's" bike but I'm a 5'4" guy and I really like the shape of the frame and how it dips down. Gives me more clearance when I'm standing up. I think you really get a lot of value for your money with this bike. I would recommend it.

    Comments:

I bought this bike because it was comfortable. I had faith in the Trek brand. I really enjoyed it at first. but within 2 months the quick release broke. it was easily replaced. on the next ride the fork broke and the wheel fell off. this was very scary and I was hurt.trek outsources the forks. getting the replacement took 2 months. when I picked up my bike, the beautiful white fork designed for hydraulic disc brakes was replaced with an ugly black fork with capped tubes sticking out of the top where alternate brakes could be attached. now I have an ugly bike that I spent good money on that has only been ridden a few times. I definitely didn't get what I paid for. be careful!

Great versatile bike. Braking is perfect with hydraulic disc brakes. Ride is comfortable smooth. Perfect bike for all needs outside of high impact mountain biking.
