This is one of the most versatile spokes in the DT Swiss spoke range. DT competition gets its special strength from cold forging. This makes an extremely durable spoke and thanks to the thinner middle section, it is 48 g lighter (per 64 spokes) than a spoke with a constant diameter of 1.8 mm. WHY WE MAKE THIS Originally, we made this hub to be the cornerstone of our hub product line. It was one of those product releases where we put all our hub and bearing experience into, and ended up with a hub that struck that perfect balance between weight, performance, durability and looks. Since the advent of disc brakes (and the R45D), we keep making it, because it’s still that cornerstone hub, and so many of our riders still love to rock their rim brakes on road and off. WHY YOU WANT IT The R45 front hub is lighter and more aerodynamic than most built-to-last hubs on the market. Our R45 rear hub combines a redesigned RingDrive™ system with 45 teeth for lower drag and near-instant engagement with a lightweight hub body and our legendary made-in-house bearings. Our bearings, both steel and ceramic, have heat-treated, surgical grade steel races that are machined simultaneously to ensure perfect matching. The quality and speed of our bearings is what you will feel (and hear) on every ride. As Chris King bearing tracks burnish they get actually get faster. A little bit of regular love (i.e. service) will keep this hub rolling for years upon years of demanding use. Developed for short spokes with a large deflection angle. DT Pro Head nipples are designed for short spokes with a large angle of deflection, such as for e-bike use. Through the spherical contact surface, the nipple aligns automatically with the angle of the spoke, which leads to consistent power transmission. The Problem Solvers Axle Nut is perfect for wheels with solid axles (also called bolt-on axles). This quality nut is made of durable chrome-plated steel and features a built-in integrated rotating washer to hold tight.

These die-cut borderless decals provide a distinctive look to go with the distinctive sound and aero-advantage of Zipp wheels rolling at 45km an hour. Zipp’s Matte white and Matte black decals also are still available. Each decal kit has seven decals sufficient to cover one wheel and two matching valve-hole decals. Note: Before applying the decals, make sure the rim surface is free of dirt and debris. We recommend a gentle wipe with acetone or rubbing alcohol. Peel the white backing sheet from the decal, orientate, position and gently press the decal onto the rim surface. Starting at one end, remove the surface clear cover slip and then work the decal into the dimples using a 3M squeegee.

Keeping contamination out of your internally geared hub is critical to its function and longevity. Sometimes, the oil port bolt comes loose and it's easy to lose, even if you've just taken it out to oil your hub. Keep a spare or two so your hub stays clean inside and it'll last you many, many miles.
